About Me

Each night the Hanning family would gather around the kitchen table, with much more interest in hearing about eachothers days than the food on our plates. Jumping up and down with excitement, I couldn’t wait to tell my family what I had learned about at school each day. Science was always a favorite subject of mine, but sharing it was the very best part. Writing became my favorite way to reach beyond my kitchen table and I would later learn to hone my craft so that audiences without familial obligations would listen to me.

My time in college has taken me further away from my beloved kitchen table, but I still feel every bit as inspired to share the captivating science that I learn with the world around me. In the field of sustainability, communicating effectively is an essential step towards motivating further innovation. I hope that my work can help foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders and drive a collective effort towards meaningful change.

I enjoy surfing, rock climbing, and I just ran my first half marathon! Regardless of how busy I am, I can always find time to pet any dogs I come across.

I am currently a senior at UC Santa Barbara majoring in Environmental Studies with minors in Project Management and Professional Writing for Science Communication.
